Not only were the rumors of more activity in Crash Bandicoot’s future true, they were even better than anyone thought. During E3 last June, Sony announced Crash’s original three games on the PS1 would be remastered for the PS4, but they made it sound like the low-polygon versions would just be upconverted and sold for $9.99 or less. What we’re actually getting, the N-Sane Trilogy, is so much better.
These are the same three games (Crash 1, Crash 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash 3: Warped), but completely rebuilt graphically from the ground up. Every environment, every track, every boss and every box has been remodeled in modern 3D. The cutscenes have been redone as well!
This isn’t the only thing Crash has been involved in of late, but it is the biggest yet. Recently he made a playable appearance in Skylanders Imaginators, complete with his own island resembling a level from the first game. He’s also appeared on the Skylanders TV series, speaking audibly for the first time (turns out he has an accent, which makes sense).
There’s no specific release date for N-Sane Trilogy yet, but it’s believed to be slated for release before the end of 2017.
