Three actors who were guest characters during Season 5 of The Walking Dead have been promoted to regular characters in the new season, TV.com reports. When Season 6 starts, you can expect to see a lot more of Alexandria head honcho Deanna Monroe (played by Tovah Feldshuh), Rick’s potential boring love interest Jessie Anderson (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Spencer, Jessie’s progeny (played by Austin Nichols).
You know by now, though, that just because an actor is confirmed as a “regular” on The Walking Dead doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll stay that way through the entire season. Last season an actor was promoted to regular billing and his stint lasted only three episodes.
The list of who’s currently still in the main cast goes as follows: Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Norman Reedus (Daryl), Steven Yeun (Glenn), Lauren Cohan (Maggie), Chandler Riggs (Coral), Danai Gurira (Michonne), Melissa McBride (Carol), Michael Cudlitz (Abraham), Lennie James (Morgan), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha), Alanna Masterson (Tara), Christian Serratos (Rosita), Josh McDermitt (Eugene), Seth Gilliam (Father Gabriel), and Ross Marquand (Aaron).
At a total of 18 people, more than the Brady Bunch or Full House, it’s more on the regular payroll than AMC should be happy about. And with the season opener confirmed to have more Walkers than any other episode to date (which is saying a lot), it makes me wonder if a thinning of the herd is imminent.
Season 6 of The Walking Dead launches October 11.
