A lot of E3s wind up having coincidental themes running through most of the games being shown. This year’s unexpected trend is “post-apocalyptic worlds.” Half these new games are set in a post-civilization wasteland. Eventually all the zombies and banged-up cars without wheels begin to run together and you desperately look for any new spin. Enter Horizon Zero Dawn, the game where mankind’s downfall was caused by robotic dinosaurs.
Horizon Zero Dawn was first announced last year, and it’s come a long way. Sony showed off eight minutes of gameplay footage during last night’s presentation. The game looks fun, if a little hand-holdy (Aloy, the character you control, constantly mentions things you can see with your own eyes).
Launching February 28, 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn is an exhilarating new open-world action role playing game exclusively for the PlayStation 4 System, developed by the award winning Guerrilla Games, creators of PlayStation’s venerated Killzone franchise.
Take on the role of skilled hunter Aloy as you explore a vibrant and lush world inhabited by mysterious mechanized creatures.
Embark on a compelling, emotional journey and unravel mysteries of tribal societies, ancient artifacts and advanced technologies that will determine the fate of this planet, and of life itself.
