Fans have been asking for it for years, and at the Bethesda Softworks E3 2016 briefing, Bethesda finally answered those fans’ desires. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will receive a new, updated and remastered special edition. Dubbed Skyrim Special Edition, the new remastered version of the game is due out later this year.
Skyrim won over 200 Game of the Year Awards for Bethesda. The upcoming Special Edition will include the original game and add-ons, along with all-new features such as remastered art and effects, volumetric god rays, dynamic depth of field, screen-space reflections and more.
The announcement this week also confirmed that the Special Edition will bring the game’s PC mods to the consoles of the game. This is not unlike how Fallout 4 will be bringing PC mods to the consoles versions soon as well. The mods will add even more depth to the Skyrim experience in the form of new quests, environments, characters, dialogue, armor and weapons.
The trailer at the briefing showcased some impressive new graphics and visuals that gamers will experience for the Special Edition. It looks like a completely upgraded Skyrim experience from top-to-bottom.
The wait for Skyrim Special Edition will not be that long at all. It arrives later this year on October 28 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
