The first screenshots of Zero Time Dilemma, the third game in the Zero Escape series, have been released to the wild courtesy of Weekly Famitsu, as well as a bounty of additional information and an interview with director Kotaro Uchikoshi. The info was translated by Gematsu. Uchikoshi confirmed that Zero Time Dilemma takes place one year after the first game (#2 took place years later) and that all the mysteries of the previous two games will be solved in this one (meaning it is more than likely the final game in the series). We also have a cast lineup!

Carlos (voiced by Tomokazu Sugita)
Akane (voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro)
Junpei (voiced by Tatsuhisa Suzuki)
Q (voiced by Aki Toyosaki)
Eric (voiced by Akira Ishida)
Mira (voiced by Maaya Sakamoto)
Diana (voiced by Mamiko Noto)
Phi (voiced by Chiaki Omigawa)
Sigma (voiced by Daisuke Ono)

The cast includes some returning players — and I’m confused by the lack of Clover, given they all but confirmed she would show up a third time in the second game’s epilogue.

Also: will there be watches? Of course there’ll be watches. I would also bet Aksys will be offering this watch in physical form to the first….I don’t know, seven people who preorder.

If you noticed something different about the art, it’s because this game has a different designer than the previous two. When pressed by Famitsu as to why, Uchikoshi replied “I thought about asking Kinu Nishimura this time, but I wanted to give the impression that [this game] has changed significantly from the previous game. Also, since the production method went from backgrounds and characters drawn in standing poses to 3D cinematics, I wanted a more impressive design. I asked Rui Tomono this time, whose [work] was likely to be accepted without any resistance overseas while still having a typically Japan-like touch.”

Zero Time Dilemma still has no solid release date, but is expected before the end of 2016.
