We now know when The Powerpuff Girls will premiere on Cartoon Network. Mark your calendars: November 18, 1998.

Wait, I think I got something wrong. Okay, the rebooted, rehashed Powerpuff Girls will make their SECOND premiere on this date: Monday, April 4 at 6 PM ET. After this we’ll get a whole lot of episodes as CN premieres one every weekday through April 15, again at 6 PM.

The premiere episode itself will be first shown to the world next Monday at the SXSW festival in Austin, if you can make it. The episode will then screen at special events in Europe, Asia and Latin America (the news comes from Deadline, and it doesn’t specify where).

Early reactions to the trailers and clips that have been released have been nothing short of divisive. People say it feels too different, it isn’t funny, the timing is off, and the strong whacks of violence the show was known for have been nerfed. This is to say nothing of CN’s still-unexplained decision to recast all three girls’ voices, yet leave Fuzzy Lumpkins intact. Without the guidance of its original creator Craig McCracken, it could be CN’s most controversial series since Teen Titans Go.

Of course, no one’s really seen enough of the show to make a true judgment call yet. Monday is the earliest we can hear anything about its quality or lack thereof. Cross your fingers, everyone, unless you were created by Professor Utonium and have none.
