During a recent visit by reporters from the magazine Game Informer to Bethesda, programmers at the studio behind the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series showed them a port of Skyrim running on the XBox One…..BUT, they had no intention of selling it when they made it.
The port was actually an exercise intended to get the programming staff familiar with the XBox One hardware by getting something familiar running on it. The port was never fully completed and there are no current plans to do so…at least, there were no such plans revealed to the reporters.
That doesn’t mean it can’t happen in the future, especially since they have a launching-off point already made. Right now, with millions of Fallout 4 dollars on the way, Bethesda has no need of quick cash. But if the next Elder Scrolls game takes years to put together (as they’ve implied), they may want to pursue an XBox One version of Skyrim. We’ll let you all know!
