On December 8, Craft is hosting a live AMA (Ask Me Anything) with Tod Polson, an award winning animation director, designer, and teacher. Some of his projects include the Emmy award winning El Tigre for Nickelodeon, the Oscar nominated feature The Secret of Kells, and the Golden Globe nominated The Book Of Life.
In 2013, his animation design book The Noble Approach: Maurice Noble and the Zen of Animation was published by Chronicle Books LLC. Currently Tod is a creative director at large for the Cartoon Saloon in Ireland.
If you’re a fan of any of these projects, or you just have a question you want answered by a professional, this is your shot. As in… right this very second. Leave your questions for Tod in the comment section of this page. Three questions will be selected for definite inclusion in the AMA and will be answered before any others!
Craft has hosted AMAs with animation vets before; their most recent was with Tomm Moore, another current member of Cartoon Saloon. You can catch up on that session here.
Craft is maintains a database animated projects where all development artifacts are displayed in their entirety, from the scripts (with notes) to character design, backgrounds, color keys, concept art, storyboards, and animation tests. The material was gathered directly from the hard drives of animation professionals and is displayed in an intuitive gallery that can be accessed from any Internet-ready device. To learn more about the service, visit their official website.
