Action is finally returning to Cartoon Network — Justice League Action, that is! The moment DC fans have been waiting for will arrive December 16! Cartoon Network revealed the official launch date this afternoon, which will kick off with a four-part special.

This four-part opening episode is called “Shazam Slam” and we’ve got a clip to show you, as well as the official description….

In “Shazam Slam,” the villainous Black Adam battles Batman on the Rock of Eternity and unleashes a horde of Djinn determined to turn the Earth back to its pre-human, volcanic state.   Affected by the otherworldly powers of these primordial monsters, Batman becomes possessed and is turned into a giant flying Batmonster laying waste to the Hall of Justice, with only Superman capable of taking the fight to the Dark Knight. One by one, the Justice League – with the help of Shazam (voiced by Sean Astin) and The Wizard (voiced by Carl Reiner) – must hunt down and defeat each Djinn in order to yet again save the world from destruction.

You won’t jut be getting the kid from Goonies as Shazam — Kevin Conroy is returning as the voice of Batman, and Mark Hamill will reprise the Joker! They’ll be joined by James Woods as Lex Luthor and Diedrich Bader as Booster Gold, among many other characters from the DC catalog. Other DCAU veterans involved in the series include producers Alan Burnett and Butch Lukic.

It all starts Friday, December 16 at 6 PM, followed by new episodes every Saturday morning beginning Christmas Eve. How’s that for a present?
