Xbox and PlatinumGames unveiled some new footage for the upcoming action RPG, Scalebound, at E3 2016 this week during the Xbox Briefing. You can check out the new gameplay video from renowned director Hideki Kamiya in the player below.
This latest video showcases the first look at multiplayer co-op gameplay footage for Scalebound. It also shows a massive boss fight. The action and gameplay here looks epic, and the boss fight was gargantuan. This definitely looks like PlatinumGames has an awesome-looking game on their hands, so hopefully it will deliver in spades. The scale of the fights looks immense, and the cutscenes are nicely rendered. The main character, Drew, here has a bit of an attitude, which is also a lot of fun, along with his banter with his dragon partner, Thuban, after he gets shoved up to safety after a whirlpool starts.
The combat looks like it will be the main draw here, since players can mix it up using a dragon as a mount and also fight on the ground. The way the video ends with all the warriors and the dragons charging in on the vulnerable crab monster was really cool.
In addition, the multiplayer co-op for the game will supporting from the start of the game to the end. Speaking to Polygon, game director Hideki Kamiya stated, “Co-op works throughout the campaign. You can play by yourself if you’d like to. You can play with your friends whenever you like. It’s not a mode — a lot of people have asked us if it’s just for bosses, but it’s for the entire game’s campaign.”
Scalebound is due out later in 2017 for Xbox One and Windows 10.
