Not only are we getting a new Mirror’s Edge game in less than a fortnight, we may be getting a TV series too. The rights to EA and DICE’s heroine have been purchased by Endemol Shine Studios, whose logo has mostly been seen on reality shows like Big Brother and Masterchef. (This will not be a reality show — far from it.) As we’ve seen many times in the past, this is no guarantee a show will ever happen…it’s confirmation that, for the time being, someone wants to make one.

“We clearly see Mirror’s Edge as a franchise for the global TV audience,” said Sharon Hall, president of Endemol. “It has a strong female protagonist, a wildly rabid fan base and a worldwide brand that Electronic Arts and EA DICE have done an amazing job establishing.”

It’s got those things, sure enough, but the story isn’t the appeal of Mirror’s Edge. It’s stepping into an exaggeratedly athletic physique and pulling off crazy stunt after crazy stunt in first person. This aspect wouldn’t translate to a TV show — Faith could perform lots of wall-jumps and parkour moves, but so could Jessica Alba on “Dark Angel.” You’re left with just a generic action series that you paid a higher price for just to get a name.

But then again, that IS the M.O. of network TV these days, isn’t it?
