Darwyn Cooke is one of the coolest artists in the comic book industry, with a slick art-deco style that’s very appealing. His retro miniseries Justice League: The New Frontier was one of DC’s most popular modern efforts, and was turned into an animated movie in 2008. And now we’re in danger of losing him.
This message was posted on Cooke’s blog this morning by his wife Marsha:
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce Darwyn is now receiving palliative care following a bout with aggressive cancer. His brother Dennis and I, along with our families appreciate the outpouring of support we have received. We ask for privacy as we go through this very difficult time.
Cooke is only 57. 2016 in general has been a nasty year for creative legends in their 50’s. We at TZ hope he can pull through!
