As we reported two days ago, the award-winning, critically praised animated film The Little Prince was set to make its US debut this weekend, courtesy of Paramount…until Paramount bailed at the very last second, for reasons that are still not explained.

This left the movie open for another distributor to take, and today The Hollywood Reporter got the news: Netflix has now acquired the rights. So what’s the new date to catch The Little Prince at your Cineplex?……There isn’t one. It’s Netflix.

Though Netflix has offered its movies to theaters before (and theaters have complained about Netflix streaming them on the same day), they will not be doing this with The Little Prince. It’ll premiere in the States exclusively on the streaming service.

If you had your heart set on a theater screening of this movie….sorry, but life sucks sometimes. Taking a trip to Canada is your only option. There is currently no exact release date for The Little Prince on Netflix, but we won’t go through 2016 without seeing it there at some point.
