Next time you wonder what exactly is taking Take-Two so long putting out anything new relating to GTA that isn’t an update to the online mode, think about this: Take-Two is a busy parent, and it’s got more children than a Quiverfull family in North Texas. At least, this was the way president Karl Slatoff put it.

“We’ve got a lot of IP. We’ve got more IP than we can even deal with at this point in time and we’re always looking at generating new IP. So that is a very different circumstance than we were in back right before the Xbox 360 and PS3 launched.” Take-Two’s current family consists of GTA (of course), Red Dead Redemption, Borderlands, Mafia, XCOM, Battleborn, Evolve, NBA 2K, WWE 2K, BioShock, Civilization, and Max Payne. And you heard the man — Slatoff is fully willing to sire even more offspring. You can never have too many blessings, ee-yup!

Take-Two had around 1,000 employees working for it last gen….now it has twice that many. And it has the dough to pay them all: when the 360 and PS3 were introduced the company’s net worth was $150 million; now they’ve got a warchest of $1.2 billion.

Take-Two’s most recent releases have been XCOM 2 and an expansion for Civilization: Beyond Earth. Their upcoming releases include Battleborn and a new Mafia title. Is there still room for GTA in this gigantic family? One would assume so, given it launched the path to their success in the first place. Hopefully at E3 we’ll hear about something new.
