No fooling, people: last Sunday police in California were involved in a high-speed chase tailing what appeared to be the Mystery Machine from Scooby-Doo.
Sharon Kay Truman, a 51-year-old woman already wanted for a probation violation, was reported to be driving dangerously around the streets of Redding, CA. When police caught up, they found her driving a Chrysler Town and Country minivan amateurishly painted up to resemble Scooby-Doo’s van. She immediately sped off and the chase began.
“Turman’s speeds increased and she began to show a blatant disregard for motorist safety,” police said, adding that she nearly hit four other cars in the process of getting away — which she succeeded at.
Later in the day the van was spotted by the California Highway Patrol, with Truman still inside. Reports confirm that “her speeds were well in excess of 100 miles per hour.” They too failed to catch her. Eventually a helicopter had to get involved, and ultimately spotted Truman abandoning the Mystery Machine and fleeing on foot.
The car has been impounded, but no one knows where Truman is at this time. Looks like we have a mystery on our hands, gang!
