Here’s some cool news: Mistwalker Studio, the game developer headed by ex-Final Fantasy director Hironobu Sakaguchi, is now collaborating with Silicon Studio (the guys behind Bravely Default) on a new game.

Details are less than scant. We have no idea what kind of game it is or who the main characters are. The only hint we’ve given is this piece of concept art:

Two Ace JRPG Studios Unite For New Game

Look familiar?

I’m serious, it might. Silicon Studio actually first revealed this art to the public seven years ago, and it was never explained what game it was for then either. Artist Kimihiko Fujisaka created it, and at the time said the piece was unrelated to any game in progress. Whatever they were working on appears to have been resurrected with the help of Mistwalker.

“My illustrations and designs keep piling up without seeing the light of day. It happens a lot, but I think of it like medals of honor from battle,” Fujisaka said in 2009. “The project I had been working on never made it through to completion, and the one thing that I really realized was that I was very disappointed in my lack of skill.” How does he feel now?
